ABOUT SIVAN
Discover the life and values of Sivan Weil, a remarkable young man who inspired the foundation.
Who was Sivan?
Sivan was born in Tel Aviv in 2003. He grew up in Ra’anana, where he flourished surrounded by unforgettable friends and family.
From a reserved child, he became a handsome young man to whom the future should have smiled. Sivan stood out for his extraordinary physical and mental abilities. Athletic and powerful, he took advantage with ease in all disciplines, especially basketball. He exuded a calmness and composure that enabled him to remain in control of the situation at all times. In everyone’s eyes, Sivan was “unbeatable”.
Sivan was funny and playful. At the same time, he exuded iron strength and willpower, coupled with genuine humility. In just 20 years, he achieved what few people do in a lifetime, giving his life its full meaning.
Sivan in Tsahal
On enlisting, Sivan was selected to join the Egoz commando unit. In a demanding military training environment, he earned the respect and friendship of his brothers-in-arms, who would become his lifelong friends. His physical and mental strength, coupled with a heart of gold, drove him to always put his team’s needs before his own.
On October 7, 2023, after the terrible terrorist attack, Sivan fought to liberate Kibbutz Kissufim. He and his team saved many lives. In January 2024, while fighting in Gaza, Sivan had to be rushed out in the middle of the night for appendicitis surgery in Beer Sheva.
He spent 5 weeks convalescing at home. For us, his family and friends, it was a godsend to have him with us.
Sivan chooses to return to combat in February. On March 29, 2024 in Gaza, Sivan and his team were hit by enemy fire. Our friend Alon Kudriashov, 21, from Modi’in died and Sivan was mortally wounded and taken to hospital. Around fifteen soldiers were injured. Thanks to his strength, Sivan survived for two days… two days that allowed us to be with him and then, sadly, to part. He died of his wounds on March 31.
Sivan’s heart of gold, his humility and his love of life will remain forever engraved in our memory, as he sacrificed his life to protect those of his brothers. May his soul rest in peace.
